IS THIS HOW NOAH FELT?

Oh my word! It's raining cats and dogs!! It's rained off and on since last Friday. In between the torrential downpours, it's been very pretty. Pretty enough for me to buy a few more flowers to plant. My neighbor is moving and cleaning out her garage. She came over Saturday (in between showers) and asked me if I'd like to have some flower pots she was not using. Well, of course I would. She even had some potting soil too. But, that meant I needed more flowers. So I made a quick trip to Wally World (didn't even go inside the store), bought the flowers and got them planted before the evening rain. It rained after church Sunday, most of Monday and as of 10:30 A.M., looks like it will rain the rest of today. Here's how full the pool is and we've drained water out several times already

Guess who needs to go out and potty?

Bailey LOVES the rain! When I let her out, she'll stay out until I insist she come in (treats help). Our dog before her HATED the rain. He'd beg and beg to come in and I'd have to insist he go out and potty. Remember last year when Bailey locked me out in the rain? Read the post here

Happy Tuesday everyone!

WE HAD SUCH A FUN DAY!

I got to spend some quality girl time with Linda yesterday. We hadn't seen each other since 2002 and had the whole day to catch up. It's strange, we didn't really know each other that well when we lived in the same town, but thru her amazing blog and my "when I get around to it" blog, we feel like we're neighbors. I'm curious...has anyone else experienced that? Do you feel like you really know someone since you've entered bloggy land? Or is it just me? I know I have a spiritual connection to people and can count on prayers when I send out a request.
We posed for this picture in my truck. I like the way the sunlight is shining thru the sunroof. Makes us look kinda Heavenly LOL! How do those kids take perfect pics of themselves all the time? It took me twice to get us both in the frame.
It's been beautiful here the past few days. After the monsoon we had over the weekend, we were due some nice weather. It's not even humid today either! Yay God!

MY OWN FLIP FLOP FRENZY

My gal Beverly is so sneaky. She knew she had my name for the flip flop swap but didn't say a word when she got mine in the mail I sent her. Linda is really the sneaky one for swapping us. My mailwoman (I think they're actually called letter carriers) delivered not only flip flops to me, but also a toe ring, cute mailing bag AND a hand stamped card. My letter carrier likes me more than Bev's does her.

Thanks hun!!

TEN THINGS I'M THANKFUL FOR

Linda had a fun post Monday. Here's my top 10 list:

10. FACEBOOK. I admit it, I'm addicted. You can't see it here, but my friends list is at 233. I actually know all the people on my list and I'm thankful for every one of them.

9. I love this stuff
8. Cheap readers. One in several locations around the house. If you're not there yet, don't laugh, you will be someday.
7. It's baseball season. I watch every game on TV. Hubby's company has season tickets and when I beg nicely, I get to go watch in person.

6. No need to explain this.
5. Yep, that's the cat on top of the cabinet. She gets a wild hair sometimes and jumps up there. One time she did it during Bunco! The game came to a screeching halt!
4. Always good for a laugh even when she's bored.
3. This is a bougenvilla and it's taking over the flower bed. But it has thorns. I could do without those.2. No need for explaining this either!!! (actually 60 days, I took this pic yesterday)

1. The person reading this list!

Okay, I didn't post a pic of my hubby or kids but you know they are there too.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

NOT MUCH HERE TODAY

I think I began last Monday's post that way too. But really, I'm thankful to say, it's boring around here this week. Now this weekend, I plan on seeing old friends, but that's a post for next week. But for today, well, I've been to the gym already. I was pretty embarrased when a friend's hubby spotted me biking and came over to say hello. Ewwwww! Maybe I'll wear sunglasses next time and hide.

We had a nice quiet Easter Sunday. Our choir didn't do anything special, just backed up the praise team so it was pretty low key. We had to walk to our spots on the risers in the semi-dark. Scarry for a somewhat clumsy person like myself. Hubby and sons left after the 2nd service and I stayed to sing in the 3rd. When I got out to the lobby, it was raining cats and dogs! And where was my under-rella? In the car, of course. I took off my jacket and put it over my head but was still soaking wet by the time I got to my car.

Lunch was in progress when I got home. I had left instructions on what to do and was pleasantly surprised when it was all under control. The sun came out by 1:00 and it was a beautiful afternoon! C's girl came over after lunch and we enjoyed visiting with her. They are a cute couple and really enjoy being together. I think back to last May when the "big breakup" happened and wondered if he'd ever be the same. God really wrapped us up and took care of us thru that whole ordeal. I'm very thankful for that.

It's b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l outside so I think I'll go poke around in the flower beds.

Happy Monday everyone!

AND THEN THEY WERE GONE

I think I noticed the baby birds in the nest outside the front door a week ago today. In all my forty something years, I'd never experienced that before. I've also never had a dog have puppies or a cat have kittens. Maybe someday. Anyhoo, yesterday morning I went to look at them and was devastated to see two of them lying on the ground. Dead. When I looked in the nest, I could only see one and it was barely moving and didn't even pick it's little head up to look at me. I couldn't find the third one and figured the neighborhood cat (not Minnie, she doesn't go out except for a few minutes out the back door) got it. I don't know why people let their cats roam around at night, but Minnie "protects" our house frequently when they come around the front windows at night. Have you ever heard a cat yell? Hubby says she's possessed. I say she's just protecting us from the bad night kitties. Later in the day I went out and saw the third bird in the flower bed. Dead. I guess it was under a bush when I went looking for it the first time. But the bird in the nest was making noise and moving around so I thought one out of four isn't too bad. Then last night, during the baseball game (yep, that time of year again), we hear Minnie going into spaz mode again. Sure enough, one of the night cats was by the window. I could hear momma and daddy bird squawking but the baby bird was still safe in the nest. By now, I'm obsessed with this bird and chased the bad cat away. I told the momma bird to protect it's baby. About 30 min. later, at the beginning of the 10th inning, which we finally won, I went out again. The baby bird was gone! I took the flashlight out and looked around the bushes but couldn't see it or hear it. I've looked around this morning and haven't seen it anywhere. I'm hoping it got away and is safe and sound.

Boring life?

Maybe.

A SLOW NEWS WEEK

You know your life is boring when all you can post about is the nest of baby birds right outside the door. I've taken pics everyday but won't post them all. Yesterday, momma bird scared me. I jumped away from the tree and knocked over a flower pot and it broke! Then as I was sweeping up the mess, I just kept thinking, "that bird is gonna peck me on the head". Too bad there's no pics of that because I'm sure I looked pretty funny.

It's getting a little crowded in there. Notice the one looking at me. Maybe it'll be my friend when it's bigger.

Our youth pastor resigned yesterday. J. said he wasn't surprised because he just wasn't himself lately. He says he's going to pursue photography. He has a newborn baby and a two year old at home. I'm not understanding that decision (no insurance, benefits, steady pay, etc) but wish him the best. Never mind it's a month away from the end of school, and summer activities are in the works.

C. had to drop a class last week. It was a class/lab and he was failing the lab! That was 30% of the grade. Then he bombed a test on Wed. When a visit to his (new) advisor showed he didn't even NEED that class, he thought it best if he get out now. I should send the old advisor a bill for the cost of the class and also one to the lab prof who isn't testing on what she's teaching.

Baseball season begins today! Woo Hoo! Go Astros!!!

It's sad the lady Sooners couldn't have ended the game last night after the first half.
I took this pic this morning about 6:30. If it looks this pretty here....
what do you think it looks like on the other side?
Happy Monday everyone!

THOSE CRAZY BIRDS

I've been noticing the mockingbirds flying close to the house lately. I figured they were building a nest in the gutters which would require Jordan to go up the ladder again and clean them out. Gee, was I wrong! They built a nest in the topiary tree RIGHT NEXT TO THE FRONT DOOR!

We have a lot of trees around here. I wonder why they chose that one?

Here's what I found when I peeked at the nest on Tuesday.

How sweet is that?

And on Wednesday, they looked pretty much the same

But today, they have their eyes open a little bit

Momma bird, or I guess this could be daddy bird isn't too happy that I keep going out to look at their babies.
What do you think she would say?

On a totally unrelated note, please pray for a friend of mine who's in the last stages of lung cancer. After a wonderful trip last week to Disneyland with all her grandkids, she arrived home in tremendous pain. A visit to the doctor Monday and an MRI revealed what they feared the most...the cancer has spread to her liver, lymph nodes and stomach. They are now saying 2-3 weeks with a chance of 2-3 months but very little quality of life remaining. Her name is Vicki. Her blog is
