Who says dogs don't spoil their humans?

My kids are old. I don't work outside the home anymore. My life is much calmer than it was a few years ago. I'm not a good blogger because I don't have much to say that I think people will care about reading. However, I DO have a dog that thinks she's a person, so I'll write about her today. This is the same darling dog that locked me out of the house last week in the rain. I wanted to show you that she really is a smart, helpful dog.

Every morning after I read my Bible, she runs out to get the newspaper. Some mornings, she is so impatient that I have to stop my study and let her out. She's very good about springing out (not running, springing), stopping to look around to see if anyone is watching her then picking up the paper. She trots right back up the sidewalk and passes me at the door. I'm not supposed to take the paper there. We have to go to the kitchen where she drops it at my feet....in exchange for a treat.

She's doesn't care if its raining, which is very often in Houston. I can depend on her to do this task for me everyday. Sunday's are hard when the paper is heavy. I wonder what she thinks about on Sunday mornings when she can barely fit the paper in her mouth? She pushes it around with her nose, picks it up, drops it, tries again. She keeps on trying until she gets it to fit just right and brings it in.

I'll tell Jordan he needs to do or say something funny so I can blog about him instead of the dog.

Wet. Really, really wet

My life has really, REALLY been boring lately. The drama with Clint and Brittany has subsided only to be replaced by drama with Jordan and Kendall. Seriously, I've had some faithful prayer warriors praying for Clint and can honestly say I don't know how I would've made it through the past month without you.

Today I got stuck out in the rain. A sudden thunderstorm appeared out of nowhere and in the pouring down rain, I decided I'd better put the umbrella down. Bailey wanted outside with me, but she loves the rain and would've stayed out just until she saw me go back inside. So I shut the door behind me with her begging to come out. I decided the umbrella could stay up and turned to go back in and THE DOOR IS LOCKED! I look at Bailey sitting there; she'd hit the deadbolt and locked me out. Did I mention it's raining, thundering and lightning? My house is surrounded by tall pine trees that get hit by lightning all the time. I used to have a spare key in my truck so I go into the garage (unattached from the house, it's a Texas thing) then remember I gave the spare key to my neighbor when she fed the pets last time. I was already pretty wet so I jog to the door on the side of the house, it's locked. I get my bearings a little before running to the front door, say a quick prayer that I can run and not fall down and hurt my million dollar knees and take off. Doesn't matter, the front door is also locked. Now, I run back to the back and look at the kitchen window that's sometimes unlocked. I pull the screen off and try it, LOCKED. This window is beneath the part of the house where there aren't any gutters and just in case any part of me was dry before, it's not anymore. I'm now really, really wet. Like I jumped into the pool with all my clothes on wet. I decide to run to my neighbor's house to get my key from her, you know, the one that's supposed to be in the garage. I told her the dog had locked me out and could I please borrow my key? I got back inside and just started to laugh.

So now, I'm nice and dry again. The storm has passed and I'm sitting here at the computer reading blogs wondering what storm will hit me next. It's been pretty stormy at our house lately and I've read a lot in James. But today I read in Isaiah 33:6. It says "He will be the stability of your times". Thank goodness for Christs' stability in our lives. Even when we're wet.
Really, really wet.
