Yikes! How in the world did this happen? Where did the past 20 years go? I can't believe 20 years ago today I was in labor at St. Francis in Tulsa. It was a beautiful spring day after a lousy, wet, cold, icy winter. It was Sunday afternoon and I looked out the hospital window and saw folks playing at LaFortune park across the street. He didn't come until 2:37 A.M. He's in college now and just today called me IN TEARS because he doesn't think he's going to be able to get his GPA up high enough to get into the program he wants. There's something about your baby being away and upset. If I could've crawled thru the phone to hug him, I would have. God will take care of him; He always has. My heart broke for him as I listened to him try to explain his problem to me. How I wish it was as simple as fixing a flat bike tire (I can do that) or sewing up a hole in his favorite jeans. Or even helping with that AWANA verse that just doesn't make any sense to an 8 year old. I can fix a lot of things, but I can't fix this. I can only pray and encourage him. I remember when he was younger thinking that when he was older, things would get easier. They haven't. Now the hurts are bigger and the confusion seems greater. I'm really struggling with this.

Okay, bear with me. This is my first blog here. I've blogged a couple of times on myspace, but haven't made the jump to blogging here. I'm a very chatty person so this shouldn't be hard, but I'm really struggling trying to come up with something clever to chat about. I had knee surgery last week. It's the third one and was supposed to be minor cartilage repair. Instead, the Dr. found more damage and did a procedure called microfracture. He took a tool and poked a hole into my bone to release bone marrow that will cause more cartilage to grow. So now, I'm on crutches 2 or 3 weeks instead of 2 or 3 days. I didn't have meals lined up, food in the pantry or the house really very clean. Thank goodness for girlfriends from church that saw my panic and brought food over and did my shopping for me. Hurray for friends! That's a whole other blog. Maybe I'll get the hang of this yet. Have a blessed day. Jesus loves you.
